Card Uses for Students
Hokie Passport Account
The Hokie Passport Account is a debit account that allows students to access select residential vending machines and laundry facilities, bookstores, dining centers, and numerous retail locations on and off campus. This debit account also allows users to print at university computer labs. All Hokie Passport ID cards have an activated Hokie Passport Account available. Hokie Passport funds carry from semester to semester until the individual graduates or is no longer affiliated with the university.
For students with a dining plan, the Hokie Passport ID gives the cardholder access to the plan in all dining centers on campus. The cashier at the dining center will swipe the card and the purchase will be deducted from the funds or meals available on the dining plan.
All Hokie Passport ID cards have an activated Dining Dollars account available. Dining Dollars is an optional debit account which allows cardholders to purchase food in Virginia Tech Dining Centers. Dining Dollars carry from semester to semester until the individual graduates or is no longer affiliated with the university.
McComas and War Memorial Gym Access
A Hokie Passport must be used to grant access to McComas or War Memorial Gym. Only students paying the recreational sports fee may use McComas Gym.
A Hokie Passport may be used to check out items and to use resources at the University Libraries.
Health Center Access
If a student utilizes the services of Schiffert Health Center or Cook Counseling Center, they will need to present a valid Hokie Passport ID to verify that they are a student.
Parking Permit Verification
Individuals must present a Hokie Passport when purchasing a parking permit.
Athletic Event Access
Students entering Lane Stadium/Worsham Field for football games or Cassell Coliseum for basketball games must present their Hokie Passport at the entrance.
Individuals who wish to print at one of the many computer labs on campus must have a Hokie Passport Account to pay for printing. Access to many labs on campus is through a card reader accessed by a Hokie Passport.
Residence Hall Access
Entry into residence halls after hours is accessed by card readers. A resident must use his/her Hokie Passport ID to enter the building via a card reader.
Math Emporium Access
Students will need to present their Hokie Passport to enter the Math Emporium.
