About the Hokie Passport Office
Overview
The Hokie Passport Office provides the official identification card that permits authorized access to university services and facilities, manages student meal accounts in dining halls and maintains individual debit accounts for use in various vendor locations on and off campus. The department provides access and meal privileges for more than 15,000 guests involved in over 90 different conferences groups annually. The office also produces badges for various departments.
The Hokie Passport Office utilizes CBORD's CSGold system that provides on-line, real time transactions on a 24-hour basis for building access in residence halls and other campus locations. There are over 300 doors across campus utilizing electronic access. Over $30 million of meals are processed by the card annually. The debit function can be used in 240 vending machines, 450 washers and dryers, 20 on-campus vendors and over 70 off-campus vendors. Each year, the card is utilized to validate 400,000 admissions to Recreational Sports functions, 250,000 trips to the Math Emporium, 70,000 visits to Health Services and in various other ways. The ID is requested as proof of identity and entitlement for classroom testing, at the Registrar's Office, Bursar's Office, Athletics, Student Telecommunications, Parking Services, Blacksburg Transit, etc.
